Blog 8: A subject you enjoyed studying this semester

Hi, everyone! How are you? Today I’m going to share with you a subject that I enjoyed studying this semester. Because the pandemic issues, my university was on Strike. So I only have like a month of classes. As you can see it’s a short period but we back to classes this last Tuesday. And even with little time, we could learn something.

I think that what I  enjoyed the most was the subjet  Character and Research. In normal conditions this  subject should be practical, but in this time our teachears tryed to share a different form for create a character from our houses. This class started with an interpretation process were we have to be able to take an artistic piece and transform to another with our interpretation. That way, I think, we should learn from where we can make different characters, what things can be use like referents and how they can become in characters. For this, they propouse to us a process with four parts:

1)      Reference

2)      Concept or Categories

3)      Register of Actions

4)      Evaluation and Results

So they give to us a point of start. The first thing was listen to a SONG that they give to us and listen to it untill we can feel familiar with it. Then, all the things that the song make us feel and conceps that we can extract from our interpretation, we have to translate it  to an image that can express all that we feel on the song.

From the song, I rescue the feelings and concepts of:  comunity, hope, and a the reward that will come from our fight. So I find this image that I think that resume my interpretation of the song:

There was another classmates who has the same song that me but they obviously interpreted  other things, so they show other images to: The first is the interpretation of my classmate Noelia Coñuenao. And the second in the Dignity Plaza is the image of another classmate Camila Astudillo

The last step was translate it to a character that can synthesize that image. That character has to be capture in a photo like he was going to say something. The first is the character of  Noelia Coñuenao. The second is from Camila Austudillo. And last one it's mine. 

As you can see all we have very different results.

That was a process that we could finished. But then we have to translate a poem to a “Sound world” Recording differents sounds that coud express our interpretation of the poem. The other step should be recording ourselves saying the poem trying to express all that we could interpret, so we can lear step by step how say drama texts. But we couldn’t do that because not all classmates has the conditions for being in Online classes. I hope all we can take up this process. I liked a lot this classes because from differents sources we could create characters or get near to that. This will be a very usefull tool for our job and a like is am online process there is register of it.
